Situated opposite the ancient church of St John the Baptist (c1100), A.V. Smith & Sons Funeral Directors was established around the turn of the 20th Century, and the family ran the business from here for at least 3 generations.
The building is an integral part of the old ‘Hillingdon Village’ and was once the premises of the village builder and carpenter.
In 1976 the business was sold to Lodge Brothers, the seventh generation family of funeral directors founded by James Lodge in Feltham in 1780.
We know that organising a funeral can seem like a daunting task, especially when we find ourselves having to make difficult decisions at a time of loss and bereavement, when we feel least able to manage.
You can trust A.V. Smith & Sons to guide you through every step of the journey. We take great pride in being able to offer a 24-hour service, 365 days a year, providing advice on what needs to be done and by whom.
As part of the Lodge Brothers family with over 230 years of experience, we have encountered nearly every situation. Our full downloadable ‘Guide to Arranging A Funeral’ has been prepared to give you an outline of the actions required by executors and others when planning a funeral, as well as giving you information on the wide range of services we offer.
Everyone is an individual, and there are many options available to help you create a meaningful, memorable and personal funeral day that honours the deceased.
If you prefer, our funeral arranger can visit you at home to discuss the arrangements.
Dear Alison and Linda,
We just wanted to say how over the moon we are with how everything went on the day. The bespoke coffin we designed for Dad was amazing and everybody was talking about it. My Dad would have loved it. The gentlemen on the day were so professional and helpful. I know it’s a funny thing to say but the funeral could not have gone any better.
Once again, thank you all.
Dear Alison and Linda,
I write to say how very pleased we were with all the arrangements that you made for my wife. Martin the celebrant was spot on he even mentioned things that we had forgotten we had talked about. Many people said how good his service was. As funerals go it couldn’t have been any better.
Thank you for everything.
